Google replaces Outlook with Forums to improve user experience
Google recently announced that it was replacing its “Perspectives” search filter with “Forums.” This decision follows user feedback indicating that the term “Forums” was more intuitive to reflect filtered content.
Name change for better user experience
The name change from “Perspectives” to “Forums” aims to make the search experience more intuitive for users. From now on, they will be able to directly filter the results to display discussions from various online forums.
No impact on search experience
Despite this name change, the search experience remains unchanged. Google continues to provide relevant results that reflect people’s personal experiences. Other types of content included in the Insights tab, such as short-form videos and user-generated content, will remain accessible in search results.
An evolution towards forums more present in research
With this change, Google shows its commitment to highlighting forums in search results. This development could also be a sign of a rapprochement between Google and Reddit, or even a future partnership with Quora.
A feature only available in English and the United States
It is important to note that at the moment, the “Forums” filter is only available in English and in the United States. If this feature arrives in France, it will be directly named “Forums”.
Despite this name change, Google’s goal of valuing different perspectives remains the same. Short-form videos, user-generated content, and other forms of personal opinions will continue to be included in search results.
